Barry Sheerman questions online safety for children

Barry Sheerman asked the Secretary of State for Culture, Olympics, Media and Sport what steps he is taking to protect children from exposure to pornographic imagery on television and the internet.

The Hon Ed Vaizey replied: ''Effective protection for children can only be achieved by parents, industry and the Government working together. Ofcom has a specific duty in relation to broadcasting and the Government will continue to work with a range of organisations in promoting online safety.''

To ask the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport what assessment he has made of the effect on the creative arts in the regions of the abolition of the regional structure of the Arts Council; and if he will make a statement.

To ask the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport what discussions he had with regional Ministers before abolishing (a) the regional structure of the Arts Council and (b) the regional offices of the Libraries, Museums and Archives Service.
